Howard Lederer lived in a family of 5 where he loved playing various card games at a young age. He discovered himself becoming very competitive in the above-mentioned card games while competing against his dad. After finishing Sr. High school, Howard made a decision to place higher education on hold for a bit and relocated to New York City to participate in some formidable chess. While participating in chess, he was introduced to a poker game going on in the back of the room. Howard’s 1st two years were rough as he would play countless hours and don’t win a majority of the time. He made some extra money by being an runner for the poker enthusiasts. He theorized he might improve his game by analyzing his life away from poker. He brought about an attempt to acquire more rest and focus even more on poker.
The real improvement in his skills began when he began betting at the Mayfair Club in New York City. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the the most favorable gamblers would often wager against one another. He had access into some of the foremost minds in chess. With their assistance, he would hone his cunning thinking abilities. He used these strategic ideas in the game of NL Texas Holdem.
Howard Lederer also assisted his sibling Annie Duke learn poker. She was an excellent student of poker as she would always be asking questions about the right way to make the proper choice. Howard told Annie Duke to head out to Sin City and play in the WSOP tournaments. Annie is one of the strongest female players the poker arena has ever seen. He moved to Sin City in 1993 and played money games for the next decade. When the WPT gained popularity, Howard decided to play more tournaments.
