Howard Lederer was born into in a family of five in which he enjoyed playing different card games when he was young. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the greatest players would often play against one another. Howard was able to access a number of the foremost minds in chess. Howard Lederer also helped his sibling Annie Duke learn the game of poker. She was a great student of poker as she constantly asked questions about the right way to make the proper choice. Howard told Annie Duke to head out to Vegas and play in the World Series of Poker competition. Annie Duke is one of the strongest women players the poker arena has ever seen. He relocated to Sin City in 1993 and competed in money games for the successive 10 years. When the World Poker Tournament gained popularity, he decided to play more tournaments.
