Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to achieve last table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a big pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best enthusiasts in the world. While competing in net poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all-in. I know Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has no reason to settle at the game with the min buy in.
Playing for the min takes almost all of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total dollar value. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The best poker players anywhere in the world might just be players you have will not have heard of. Gus can be found playing net poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in big stakes omaha high and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in cash rounds?
