Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the detrimental feedback from other people kill his dream of being one of the best poker players in the world.

He started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an undying passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Even though Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
